Winthrop Balloon Festival - March 1-3

Winthrop's annual Balloon Festival is coming up March 1-3. This is an incredible photographic event. Get up close with the balloons at launch time and then watch as the float over the snow-covered peaks of the Methow Valley.  Don't miss this event and everything else there is to do in Winthrop.  More information on the festival can be found here.

Groundhog Day- Winthrop Washington

At Winthrop's annual Groundhog Day celebration, Wilbur our Winthrop Whistlepig declared an early spring. Will his prediction be correct? Plenty of great snow remains on the ground and skiers, snowmobilers and winter enthusiasts are having a great time. "Weather" winter or spring we do know that Winthrop has it all.

Winthrop's New Year's Eve Fireworks Show

Winthrop's New Year's Eve Fireworks show will take place on Monday, December 31 at 6pm.

This is one of the finest fireworks shows in the state!  Don't miss the action. The fireworks will begin promptly at 6pm (which we like to call "Methow Midnight").  This is a great family event and allows you to ring in the New Year and be in bed early enough to ski the next day!
Some of the best viewing locations are:
  • Right in downtown Winthrop with the fantastic backdrop of our western town.
  • From the Winthrop Ice Rink!  How magical is it to ice skate and watch the fireworks.
  • From a hotel hot tub.  There are a number of local hotels that have great views of the show but be sure to book in advance. The holiday weekend always sells out.
Enjoy the show and Happy New Year!
